Emma's 1 year pics (& a couple w/Kayla)

So, I finally got around to scheduling a one-year portrait session for Emma. Between visits from the Whitten's this last month and not feeling good, it was something I had really dragged my feet on. So today I managed to find a couple summer outfits that were still stain-free and ventured out to Portrait Innovations to get Emma's one year pics taken... but since I went through the hassle of getting to the portrait studio, I decided to have them take some of both of my beautiful girls together. They were both very patient and very good the entire visit. Enjoy!!

Update on David

David completed his first 5-day-regimen of chemo last Thursday. He was admitted back into the hospital yesterday with neutropenic fever. His white count was 0.0 yesterday but has come up a few tenths today. Please keep him in your prayers that his immune system kicks into high gear, that pain and energy improve, and that he is able to have a couple weeks of feeling good before his next round... he'll be going to get his port-a-cath placed and starting his second round in a few weeks.

Adding to the family!!

So we've been debating about adding a 3rd child to our brood but have been a bit hesitant since Emma's only 12 months and life is a little crazy at times as it is. So, not wanting to stir the pot too much, we decided to adopt a Compassion International child. Her name is Nakadwa Babirye Margret and she's from Uganda. Soon after we "adopted" Margret, we got some surprising news... we WILL be adding a fifth Whitten to our family!!! Yes, we are pregnant and due March 13th... ironically, that's a Friday the 13th, which is when Emma was born! We were a bit shocked at first but are very happy to be making a final addition to our amazing family! We had our 8 week appt yesterday and the little one's heart was just beating away but appea...

After almost 2 months of back and forth from confused doctors, our 26 y.o. cousin-in-law David will start a 5 day course of Chemo today at a Winston-Salem hospital 45 minutes away. They think, by their best estimations and after much contemplation, that he has a very complicated version of Ewing's Sarcoma. If I remember correctly and if the plans haven't changed, he will undergo 4 of these 5 day hospitalizations followed by a major surgery, followed again by more chemo and/or radiation. Please keep him in your prayers and share this request with your prayer circles. The doctors have given a poor prognosis but we serve a God that doesn't care about statistics!
